Facebook has become one inevitable part of our lives. It is required for almost everything. You are sleeping or you are snoring, your daily things are there on Facebook. And then there is something called ‘like’ button on everything. Over the time, many people are calling for a dislike button as well. What is your say in that? Do you wish to ‘like’ a status update which says a friend went on shopping. This blog is all about questioning the fact if there should be a button for dislike or not?

Looking at other sites, for instance there are graphic designs showcasing ‘thumbs up’ and ‘thumbs down’. It displays if it liked. When it comes to facebook, things turn out otherwise. Facebook had the money quotient in it. This social networking site has been developed in order to target almost all the age groups and their varied interests. This is one place, where a company can get his targeted customers. Now, that many businesses are being promoted on Facebook, it is likely to have a larger mass audience.

With the affect of the ‘dislike’ button, there are chances of negativity to develop in the platform. For instance, if you have a dissatisfied customer, he may dislike certain brand’s page. In the same way, there are chances that a company can promote disliking certain competitor’s page. In addition, nothing can be more discouraging than customers putting up negative comments. In the entire scenario, there are full chances of negativity surrounding the competition and marketing. In nutshell, ‘dislike’ button may not create a productive impact on people and the business page.

Looking at the current picture, developers have come up with Open Graph. With the help of this application, one can actually ‘watch’ a movie or ‘cook’ a recipe with the help of the buttons of same names. This particular button system will give the opportunity to exactly the activity is all about? Such a strategy will not hamper company’s marketing. The talks about Open Graph took place in F8 conference in September. What is your say on this issue? Do you think ‘dislike’ is anyways necessary? The floor is open for a healthy debate.

My sister is in college for whom it is hard to imagine her college life without Facebook. But Facebook is no longer only for college students.

The way to network on Facebook is by creating a profile or even a group of-course, which can be a little more professional then just a profile. But, if you really want to network and promote yourself, organization or business, then creating a Facebook Fan Page is the best way to do this.

To create a fan page, so you will have to go to the main page. When beginning a fan page, you are given the basics, which make it look like a glorified profile page. A raw fan page includes a feed, wall, videos, photos and list of fans.

Making your fan page very interactive as well as graphically appealing are two of the most important and good ways to attract new fans. With Facebook’s Application Directory, making it interactive can easily be done that has a wide-range of applications which can be added with a couple clicks to your page.

You can put your brand on a Facebook application and personalize it the way you want bcause putting interactive applications on your page gives reader or users a reason to not only become fans, but to continually visit on your page.

While making the fan page interactive, it is also important to give it some personality by making its look attractive. You can upload a photo or logo on Facebook for your fan page, but that just is not enough. Try to give your page some flare. Just put a sharp graphic linking to your site or a flashy banner with the side bar that promotes a contest.

Trust me, doing something different like this offers fans and potential fans to not only visit your fan page but to also visit your company’s website or blog.

So, do you have a Facebook page? If yes then follow my experience and get full advantage of a Facebook.

Just think about it for a moment.

Nielsen released new numbers that confirm what you have known for a while: Facebook is the web’s ultimate time sink. The more interesting though is how much more time you spend on the world’s largest social network today than you did 6 months ago.

In June 2009, Nielsen had estimated that the average U.S. user spent 4 hours and 39 minutes on Facebook in one month. It means about 9.3 minutes per day in a 30 day month. In August, the number of user spent rose to 5 hours and 46 minutes, or 11.5 minutes per day.

In January 2010 though, the amount of time the average person spent on Facebook jumped to over 7 hours. It has been estimated that each American Facebook user spent an average of 421 minutes on Facebook per month that amounts to over 14 minutes per day. Even if you lump together the time spent on Google (1:23), Yahoo (2:09), YouTube (1:02), Microsoft/Bing (1:35) Wikipedia (0:15) and Amazon (0:22), it still does not beat Facebook.

It also has been estimated that the average number of websites people visited rose by 8.4%, while the amount of time people were on the PC went down by 8.2%, but the conclusion seems to be Facebook’s still-meteoric rise.

How much time you spend on Facebook? Let’s discuss in the comments.

Pages for companies are a boon for online marketers but you should think about creating a business account on Facebook instead of thinking about setting up a page on Facebook for your company. The reason is that they are not connected to your personal profile on Facebook and they are free. Not being connected to your personal profile is very important for so many reasons.

First reason is that some people make mistakes and could lead to having your account on Facebook deleted and then what happens to all the Facebook pages you created, you know? All pages go with you to nowhere. When your account gets deleted so do they, since they are tied to your account. It can be very harmful for small and large companies.

The second reason is that if you leave the companies page that you set up for them no longer does business with you. You will always have access to those pages by setting up the page under your personal profile. There is no way to remove the creator or to transfer ownership of a page from being an admin of the page. You are effectively stuck with it. By contacting your sales rep, Facebook may be able to alleviate the situation but it remains to be seen if they can or not.

The third reason is that if you are the owner of the page then you can never post comments to the page. If you are the admin/ owner of a page, try it some time. You can not post anything to the wall without looking like you are speaking for the company.

I think making use of the business accounts on Facebook is the best situation. You can tie a business account to a new email address on gmail when you set up it so that you can easily transfer to another person or company if you stop working somewhere.

I hope these points prove useful to you. All the Best!

Now-a-days! Facebook has become very popular among the people as it is called as the fastest way to keep in touch with the people in your life. It is easy to connect and share your life with your family and friends and also amplify your voice to their friends.

Facebook has become the world’s largest social network with over 300 million users.
It is not just keeping tabs on friends and filling out quizzes but it can also be used as a highly effective business tool as it is great for marketing your products and to connect and engage with your customers.

Reasons to use Facebook for your Business are:

1) Meet your Friends: Through Facebook, you can meet your friends, those who are still connected with you and those to whom you have lost at some stage of your life. So, re-establish your relationship with them.

2) Find your business contacts: With more than 105 million active users and predicted to be 500 million by 2011, not only are your friends on Facebook, so are your prospects, your partners, your customers and also your competitors. You require being ON too.

3) Build relationships: You can better adapt your marketing and business services by engaging in conversations with your customers and prospects to meet their needs.

4) Raise visibility: You can increase credibility and visibility as the expert in your area by posting relevant information, by consistently showing up and being a thought leader.

5) Instant gate opener: Facebook members are open and free to connecting. You can easily talk with highly successful as well as with famous people who were unreachable previously.

6) Develop your personal brand: The lines between personal and business have become blurred. You can reveal as much as or little about yourself which allow you to personalize your brand.

7) Target your niche: You can readily access what users volunteer large amounts of information about themselves. These types of psychographics, demographics and technographics would have cost fortunes to access, previously. John Battelle, Author calls Facebook a “database of intentions.”

8) Place targeted ads: You can test the targeted advertising with Facebook Social Ads for minimal cost.

9) Get rapid top Google placement: Just create a Page for your business and share information with your friends. “Profiles for personal” and “Pages for business” are indexed for optimal search engine positioning. According to Alexa, Facebook has a page rank of 5.

10) No cost marketing: Facebook is absolutely free to use and you will end up with more traffic, more paying clients and more subscribers with regular activity.

Now! I hope you have found a path for your success in your business.

Marketing on social networks is not so easy but there are some ways to achieve success. In this article, some tips are there that I want to share them with you on how to harness the news feed for peddling a person, product or cause that will coax people to do things that are visible to others:

Ways are:

1. Create a profile: You can not make a friend until you do not have your own profile on Facebook. So, create your profile first.

2. Host an event and post it: If you have any event or occasion, if you don’t have then host it and then post it on Facebook just to compare your costume party with one who was in better dress than you or better then others.

3. Share a funny video or picture: You can share some funny video or any picture with your friends on it. You can impress any special person also. In fact, I like the one when glow sticks are liquified, and my colleague Zury brought it to my attention by sharing it via Facebook.

4. Post pictures: These may include candid shots of people, products or other related items. If Facebook users are in these photos, then either they or their friends can tag them, and these tags can show up on the news feed.

5. Post news articles: Latest news about a person or organization is a great item to share on Facebook.

6. Write a note: This is a best way to directly communicate with people sans the filters of spin doctors and journalists. It is very important to note that people have, can, and are creating groups, sharing media, and writing notes about organizations, people and causes. There is nothing stopping organizations from entering the fray to get their voice heard too.

So, these are the tips that are also applicable to marketing on other sites. I hope you enjoy using Facebook. If you have any additional ideas, please share them with me.
